At Top Care Chiropractic we understand that everyone presents with different tolerances to spinal pressure. Each person is also unique and even though they may be experiencing similar pain to others, they will respond better to different techniques.
Dr Raffi Grigorian (Chiro)specialises in the techniques of
Thompson Technique:
Thompson Technique is a high velocity, low force approach to adjusting the spinal column and its extremities. The drop pieces used can be adjusted to various resistances and raised up a short distance so that when the chiropractor applies an adjustment, at the same time the table drops. The dropping of the table allows for a lighter manual adjustment with no reduction in effectiveness. This technique uses a shock absorbing table and extension to minimise pressure to the patient. The Thompson table is versatile and may be used with any technique, and the Thompson leg check allows consistent accurate analysis of subluxation. It is a very relaxing and pain free technique considering the patient is lowered to the horizontal position using the table, adjusted, then raised to the standing position. The sound of a drop-piece table can be quite dramatic! However, the adjustment itself is still a gentle and precise thrust.
Diversified:
Diversified Technique consists of many different types of adjustments to correct vertebral subluxations throughout the spine. It involves a short-lever, high-velocity movement with specific contact on the spine. Adjustments are given in a specific direction in order to restore normal spinal and joint mechanics, function and integrity.
It is practiced by a large number of Chiropractors worldwide.
An example of a common adjustment you may experience: A side lying pelvis adjustment, where the chiropractor will lay you on your side and place a contact hand on your low-back area. He or she will use the weight of their own body or leg to bring you into a slightly ‘twisted’ position and then give a thrust through their contact hand.
Activator:
The first thing that most patients will comment on with regards to this adjusting tool is: “the activator”, “the little clicking thing”. This is a small hand-held tool that the doctor will place at the site of adjustment and as they squeeze it, it clicks and delivers an effective thrust. The activator adjusting instrument delivers a completely reproducible, reliable thrust and the gentle force can be adjusted to suit patients ranging from adults to infants. The use of the activator adjusting instrument is thought to promote increased safety.
Soft Tissue:
This soft tissue technique is a method of restoring movement and
therefore function in a joint using stretching, soft tissue massage
and mobilizations. It is very effective in those people who are unable
to be adjusted using other techniques. It works fantastic when combined with other techniques. The technique is also used when treating shoulders, hips, elbows, knees, ankles, wrists, hands and feet.
Gonstead:
The Gonstead adjusting technique similar to diversified, uses a short-lever, high-velocity movement with specific contact on the spine. Adjustments are given in a specific direction in order to restore normal spinal and joint mechanics, function and integrity. It differs from Diversified and is unique in the way that it assesses for subluxations and does not use torsion of the spine to deliver spinal adjustments.
Dr Raffi Grigorian (Chiro) also has extensive knowledge and works with diagnosis using Bgi, Applied Kinesiology and Thompson.
